Meanjin (Brisbane) based protest artist Amy Sargeant takes over CONTRA with a new performance and installation: CLIMAX.
Through sculpture, audio and video installations, Amy’s work responds to her disillusionment with the dysfunctions of the Australian political establishment by re-framing the elements of political spectacle. Amy deploys the Situationist method of détournement to destabilise motifs from mainstream politics, activist iconography, symbols and visual cultures.
