A culmination of Anita Holtsclaw’s year as Artist in Residence, ‘searching’ builds on dialogues of longing and loss in the landscape found in art history and cinema. The exhibition draws from Bas Jan Ader’s work In Search Of The Miraculous (1975) to contemplate the poetic act of searching. In doing so it explores how the implicit narratives of gender contained in the landscape mediate our conceptual as well as phenemological experience.
