Arabella Walker: Echoed Ground

Deadline:

4 July
-
August 2
Outer Space

Outer Space presents Echoed Ground, a new solo exhibition by Arabella Walker, showing from July 4 to August 2 as part of its 2025 Main Gallery Exhibition Program. Offering a richly layered, multi-sensory experience, the immersive installation brings together archival imagery, contemporary artworks, scent, sound and sculptural forms to explore memory, movement and connection to Country.

An early career contemporary Aboriginal artist, Arabella draws from her maternal lineage of the Wulli Wulli, Auburn Hawkwood people to craft a deeply personal response to place. At the heart of the exhibition is Arabella’s relationship to Auburn Station – a site of familial and cultural resonance. Through plaited forms, visual motifs and soft gestures drawn from the landscape, she traces the enduring ties of cultural protocols, kinship connections and traditions.

Black and white photographs merge with vibrant original pieces, while sound and scent extend the work beyond the visual, inviting a more embodied connection to memory. Arabella’s background in dance gives the exhibition a quiet physicality, where movement becomes its own form of storytelling. Through floating textiles and immersive soundscapes, the space becomes one where past and present shift and settle together.

Memory, identity and stories are carried forward through every element of work in this unmissable exhibition at Outer Space.
