Next Wave has expanded its Around the Block program, now offering nine opportunities for emerging and early-career artists across Australia to present moving image works in a six-week public screening series.
Unfolding across Brunswick’s arts precinct, the program transforms building facades, windows, and public projection sites into a dynamic trail of artworks encountered in everyday urban life. This expanded iteration includes a new offsite projection space at Michelle Guglielmo Park (260 Sydney Road), alongside screenings at the Brunswick Mechanics Institute.
Artists can apply to present work in either location (or both), with selected participants receiving an artist fee, installation and technical support, and opportunities to engage in public programming.
The program encourages experimental, imaginative work that extends beyond traditional gallery settings and into the street—creating moments of unexpected artistic encounter.
