artisan: August Workshop Series

Deadline:

Deadline: August 29

artisan continues its new workshop program at The Parlour within the State Library of Queensland, offering a series of hands-on creative workshops led by Queensland artists, makers and designers.

Following a successful first month featuring Laura Griffiths-Yamamoto, Holly Farmer (D H Makers), Kimi Schieren, Carolyn V. Watson and Kat Walsh (Practice Studio), the August program expands with workshops exploring ceramics, wearable design and mask making.

Highlights include Flying Fox Woman: Artist Talk and Mask Making Workshop with Rebecca McIntosh (Bec Mac) and Kimi Schieren on 8 August, where participants create their own mythological guardian mask while supporting the ongoing Flying Fox Woman project.

On 15 August, ceramic artist Sean Gordon of Green Bird Ceramics will lead Hand Build a Bird, introducing participants to hand-building techniques as they create their own ceramic bird—no prior experience required.

The month concludes on 29 August with BATTLEJACKETS, a collaborative workshop by Kimi Schieren and Amy Crow, where participants can customise their favourite denim jacket using an exclusive collection of heat-pressed patches and decals.

The workshops form part of artisan’s ongoing commitment to supporting contemporary craft, design and creative practice through professional development, making and community engagement.
