Caboolture Regional Art Gallery invites you to join artist Michelle Vine for a floor talk as a part of her exhibition Soft Touch on 22 January, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
In conversation with Dr. Louise Mayhew (Art Historian, Writer and Editor), the artist will explore the artworks more closely and delve into the key themes behind the exhibition. We encourage audience participation to ask questions and be active in the discussion.
About the artist
Michelle Vine is an installation artist based in Meanjin/Brisbane. Her current practice is centred on touch: she aims to bring awareness to this neglected sense and disrupt sight’s dominance in contemporary art experiences. She focuses on the body and the gallery as sites for investigating sensory knowledge formation, and uses a phenomenological approach, informed by affect theory, sensory neuroscience and her lived experiences of neurodiversity and chronic illness. Vine graduated from Queensland College of Art in 2019, and in 2020 she was showcased as one of Australia’s best emerging artists in Hatched: The National Graduate Show at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA).
Light refreshments will be served.
