WHERE : Substation Gallery & Studio, 150 Enoggera Terrace, Paddington.
For the month of August Liv Vesnaver and Rachael Archibald will be the artists in residence at the Substation Gallery. The gallery will be open everyday 10am – 2pm.
OUR TIME IN THE SPACE
During our month long residency at The Substation Gallery we aim to promote the same ideals as the gallery, namely; alternative forms of engagement and social outcomes. Our goal is to demonstrate how inclusive the arts can be for the public and community.
As individual artists we will engage with the local environment through object based collection, study, research and social interaction. Using found objects and local materials our goal is to promote healthy, connected communities through accessible and experimental workshops and art based outcomes. The artistic mediums we will focus on will include visual sound references, health, environment and nature, food and diversity.
PROPOSED OUTCOMES
• Relaxation via social engagement, building community relationships (positive social engagement rather than negative external stresses).
• Dealing with living in urban environments and working towards achieving positive lifestyle changes (balance and acceptance).
• Acknowledging the natural flux of life, symbolising and utilising things from our environment, transforming our environment through a healthy relationship with change through art.
• Encouraging people to apply the awareness they’ve experienced from the creative process to their own environment (their home and life).
