Yuma Taru (Atayal) has revitalised Atayal weaving, establishing the Lihang Workshop—a creative studio and social enterprise developing Atayal culture. Her work featured in the Gwangju Biennale in 2023, the Taiwan Art Biennial in 2022, the Asia Pacific Triennial in 2021, and in Sakàhan at the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, in 2013.

Anchi Lin (aka Ciwas Tahos) (Atayal/Hō-ló) creates new-media and performance works exploring notions of identity, sovereignty, gender, and the environment. Her works featured in Documenta in 2022, the Asia Art Biennale in 2021, and Green Island Human Rights Art Festival in 2021.

Taru and Lin’s visit is part of an ongoing First Nations Arts Exchange program between Australia and Taiwan organised by Sophie McIntyre in Brisbane (QUT) and Fang Chun-wei in Taiwan (National Prehistory Museum). It is supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, Spotlight Taiwan, EVA Air, and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Brisbane.

Please join us at 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start.
