ASAP recognises urgent and important Pre-emerging creative practice of Meanjin / Brisbane. Highlighting Australians who happen to have Asian heritage/s and Asian disaporic lineage; and are not too sure about their professional direction, are uneasy about all that big institutional gatekeeping and tastemaking, but also just really need a little bit of cash to do some more critical work!
This dual invitational and open-call prize seeks to uncover talents from (quite) early career practitioners of (but not limited to) visual art and crafts, performance and drag, storytelling and writing, music and composition, filmmaking and animation; and provide a little something for those that need it most.
The 2 winners of ASAP 2022 will both receive $150 each, and hopefully a reprieve from the cultural baggage borne of all that tiger parenting.
