Australian Coin Review is inviting artists and designers from across Australia to enter its 2027 Coin Design Competition, offering a AUD $50,000 first prize for a new Australian coin design.
Celebrating the magazine’s historic 1966 competition that produced the iconic Swan Dollar, entrants are invited to create both the obverse and reverse of a coin featuring the words “AUSTRALIA 2027” and a design of any nature suitable to Australia.
Designs may draw inspiration from Australian flora, fauna, landscapes, culture or other themes. Entries may be submitted as a sketch, concept or finished artwork. Artificial intelligence-generated imagery is not permitted.
The winning design will be professionally refined for mint production, with the original designer involved in the development process. The winning coin will be struck in gold and silver.

Judging will consider artistic merit, originality, relevance to the theme and suitability for modern coin production.
