Australian Parliament House is inviting visual artists from across Australia to apply for the 2026 Artist-in-Residence Creative Research and Commissioning Program.
Open to artists at any stage of their career, this unique opportunity offers behind-the-scenes access to one of the nation’s most significant cultural and political sites, where politics, history, architecture and art intersect.
The successful artist or group will receive:
- Recognition as Australian Parliament House Artist-in-Residence for the 48th Parliament
- A $10,000 artist fee for the research phase
- A commission fee of up to $30,000 for a new artwork
- Up to 12 months of access to Parliament House, including the Parliamentary Library and Art Collections
- Travel and accommodation assistance
The residency invites artists to develop new work that offers a fresh perspective on the architecture, landscape, history and role of Parliament House.
