Bimblebox 153 Birds is an exhibition that combines printmaking and audio recordings about the bird species of the Bimblebox Nature Refuge in Central Western Queensland. The exhibition will consist of 153, A4 sized bird prints and musician’s bird call interpretations will be interwoven with poetry and prose, each presented via audio and played throughout the exhibition.
‘Bimblebox’ is a dynamic 8000 hectare ecosystem consisting of original woodland on the eastern edge of Queensland’s desert uplands. Protected for perpetuity by a nature refuge agreement, Bimblebox is not protected from the mining plans of Waratah Coal. Instead, it looks set to become one of the biggest coal mining operations in the Southern Hemisphere.
