BLEACH*—one of Australia’s most vibrant contemporary arts festivals—returns in 2025 with a powerful new direction under guest Artistic Director Michael Zavros. Spanning 11 days and over 100 events, the festival transforms the Gold Coast into a dynamic celebration of creativity across art, music, storytelling, dance, and food.

Skywhale & Skywhalepapa by Patricia Piccinini take flight at sunrise on 31 July, presented in partnership with the National Gallery of Australia.

Ladies Lounge by Kirsha Kaechele appears outside of MONA for the first time, transforming HOTA Gallery into a provocative live performance space.

Cavalcade —a breathtaking mix of opera, classical music, and dancing horses—stages oceanside at Kurrawa Beach, starring champion riders John Thompson and Katharine Farrell.

Breaking Into Heaven (World Premiere): Selve’s new album performed live with the Australian Session Orchestra, Karul Projects dancers, lasers, and immersive visuals at HOTA.

With three World Premieres created on the Gold Coast, five Queensland Premieres, and standout performances from across Australia, BLEACH* 2025 promises unforgettable experiences grounded in local excellence and global vision.
Acting Mayor Mark Hammel calls it “11 days of ‘wow’ moments,” while Zavros says the festival is “a true reflection of the city’s creative spirit and growing artistic ambition.”
