BLINDSIDE FESTIVAL: Call for video artists

BLINDSIDE is calling for submissions from contemporary video artists to present their work during a two week festival in August 2012 themed around the open concept of travel, transitions and place.

Is there somewhere you would rather be? The inaugural BLINDSIDE Festival themed ‘everywhere but here’ will be a multi-platform event where artists and the audience can connect, discuss, and imagine alternate destinations together. The screen-based works will be presented as a group exhibition in a looped format that will showcase emerging talent from across Australia and internationally.
If you are a video artist who is interested in notions of travel and destination in your practice, we are accepting submissions in the following format:

  • Current CV (including your contact details)
  • Artist Bio (up to 150 words noting highlights in your career thus far)
  • Support Material: 1-3 URL links of finished video works of no more than 4 minutes length (upload your videos on to sites such as Vimeo, – Youtube and then insert the links into the application – provide the password where applicable) Please note these works should be the proposed work for presentation.

Please note, if accepted for presentation at BLINDSIDE, the following file formats will be requested: either ‘.mov’, ‘.avi’ or ‘mp4’. Burnt DVD’s will not be accepted. All files that are presented must not be longer than 4 minutes in total.

Applications must be received by COB on Monday 16 April 2012.
Applications will be assessed by the BLINDSIDE Committee of Management.
