A Meadow, A Clearing presents a new body of ceramic sculptures by Melbourne-based artist Brendan Huntley.
Guided by touch, instinct and material experimentation, Huntley’s practice embraces spontaneity and process. His sculptural works are built through layered surfaces, textured markings and intuitive forms that draw upon memory, heritage and imagination. Influenced by a lifelong immersion in artmaking and handmade objects, Huntley creates works that function as both physical artefacts and records of experience.
In recent years, his practice has expanded toward larger ceramic forms that move beyond figuration into imagined landscapes and cosmic environments. These works reflect an ongoing fascination with the natural world, the universe and the space where the two intersect.
Presented alongside works by Rhys Lee, the exhibition offers insight into Huntley’s evolving ceramic practice and spirit of experimentation.
