With the Sun in My Eyes developed from a residency in Kedewatan in Bali in 2019 with each of the paintings based on personal observations and experiences of the area. These were often fleeting moments viewed from a motorbike or glimpses caught in the corner of my eye, or everyday observations that could easily be overlooked or forgotten, distilled in paint through colour and abstract response. This process of spending time with ephemeral moments provides a different way of observing and thinking about a place, in this case a pocket in central Bali.
