The Brisbane Portrait Prize is a new and distinctive cultural offering for Brisbane, with a $50,000 first prize (the Lord Mayor’s Prize), showcasing the best in contemporary portraiture and celebrating the character of the city and those who make it what it is.
This is a new opportunity for artists. Entries open in February, and close 23 August. The finalists Exhibition will be at the Brisbane Powerhouse in October every year.
Prize money totals over $70,000 and categories include digital, People’s Choice and a women’s prize. This is your opportunity to create something special. Who would make a good subject? Who are the characters with stories to tell? How can you contribute?
