Call for Proposals 2026: Waiheke Art Gallery

Waiheke Art Gallery (WAG) invites proposals from emerging and established artists, groups, and collectives for its 2026/2027 exhibition programme. Located on Waiheke Island, the gallery presents a dynamic mix of local and international practices, with a focus on connecting people to the essence of Waiheke through contemporary art.

Successful applicants will be considered for exhibitions scheduled in the second half of 2026. The programme includes solo and group exhibitions, artist-led projects, curated shows, open-entry exhibitions, and major awards including the Walker & Hall Art Award and the Perpetual Guardian Small Sculpture Prize.

WAG offers a supportive exhibition environment with curatorial guidance, installation support, marketing, and an opening event. Artists also have the opportunity to sell work, with a 40% commission on sales.

Submissions must be sent as a single PDF (under 5MB) and include:

  • Exhibition proposal (2 paragraphs to 2 pages)
  • Artist bio or CV
  • Up to 4 supporting images per artist
  • Relevant links and documentation
  • Contact details
  • Funding intentions (if applicable)
  • Availability across 2026–2027
