Carly Kotynski: Tied Up

Deadline:

Artisan

Carly Kotynski is a Brisbane based artist who incorporates many different craft skills in her sculptural works and installations. Her art practice continually evolves as she explores and masters different techniques and experiments with a range of materials. Having used copper wire and natural fibers for some time, Carly recently discovered cotton rope and the knotting of macramé. Using only a small selection of basic knots, visually complex patterns can be created. In this installation Carly explores how the repetition of these simple knots can transform an ordinary material into something beautiful and quietly elegant.
