Changemakers: Crafting a Difference presents eight textile banners by Australian craftivist Tal Fitzpatrick, exploring the power of making as a tool for activism and social change.
Drawing on the history of textile banners used in movements such as women’s suffrage, the exhibition highlights both historical and contemporary struggles for equality. Themes include equal pay, sexual harassment, family violence and female representation in politics and business.
Created primarily from upcycled materials, the banners demonstrate how craft—traditionally considered “women’s work”—can become a powerful form of political expression.
Produced by the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, this travelling exhibition celebrates women’s empowerment and the ongoing quest for freedom and equality.
