Chapel Art exhibition at Dollhouse

Deadline:

Net Productions, 7 Butler Street, Ascot, Brisbane

Now for something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…

Chapel, the second cab off the rank in our Dollhouse program opens this Friday night the 6th of May from 6pm and features new work from local artists Madelin Bouwman, Leah Emery, and Nicole Gillard.

Chapel sees diminutive yet provocative works set inside a pristine miniature gallery (Dollhouse) housed inside a pristine miniature shop (Net Productions) who are known for their wedding photography and films. These works are delicate in terms of materials but communicate poignantly with each bearing some connection to love and loss. Madelin is working in minimal white on white exploring notions of absence and presence. Leah’s sexually suggestive embroideries cause the viewer to admire her boldness as well as manual dexterity. Finally Nicole’s works are personal narratives that are universal in theme focusing on memory through using remnants of records left.

Dollhouse is supported by the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments.
