Webb Gallery, QCA

The exhibition Trajects surveys the past six years of prints by Honolulu based printmaker Charles Cohan. The title refers to the various visual and conceptual routes that Cohan has investigated since 2012, and reflects an interest in a specific range of content developed though traditional hand printmaking media.

The prints are composed as differing sets of related images. From the memorializing of a grove of black cherry trees and the graphic phenomena of seismic measurement to a visual meditation on the industry of ship breaking. The prints exist in sequences, comparing and contrasting images of biologic and architectonic structures in an homage to fractal theory.
