Christian Flynn and Miles Hall are Brisbane based artists who explore the ongoing possibilities of Painting in a digital age. While both artists maintain highly individualised practices their work shares an immediate engagement with the act of painting – concentrating on presenting intense, highly sensual works of form and colour that confirm painting as a vital process.
Working beyond the dominant modes of representation, Hall and Flynn’s practice contributes to a greater understanding of contemporary non-figurative painting in both a local and wider context. Through an engagement with the physical and visual qualities of their medium, Hall and Flynn celebrate the potential of painting to evoke phenomenological encounters that are relational, embodied and ongoing – visual ruptures in our mediasphere.
