Christine Ko is a Brisbane-based artist whose practice uses an autoethnographic methodology to interrogate spaces of liminality and hybridity to examine feelings of ambivalence—between hopes, dreams, invisibility and shame, through the lens of the contemporary Chinese-Australian migrant experience. A core focus of her practice is to explore shame, invisibility and transformation by drawing from her personal experience as an immigrant and Chinese-Australian, and through the re-contextualization of a variety of commercial and industrial materials. Sunkissed has been made specifically for the Machinery Street Gallery and is the first instalment of a forthcoming new installation work.
