ET AL. PHOTO COLLECTIVE was founded in 2011 by a group of photographers who met in Brisbane, Australia, and who are all deeply committed to forging careers as photojournalists and social documentary photographers.
Many discussions were had, of the challenges we each faced as emerging photographers in an industry that demands not only passion, determination and skill but increasingly a great deal of initiative.
We felt the need to be a part of a like-minded community, where developing our personal photographic visions remained a priority; constantly evolving, constantly challenged. A place where we could present works in progress for comment and critique, and open up opportunities for development and collaboration. Somewhere that allowed for all this to take place, no matter where we found ourselves.
It was out of these needs that ET AL. was born.
ET AL. is built on the principle that whilst the nature of photojournalism and documentary photography requires us to often work alone, it is through the support and input of our peers that we will strive to form meaningful bodies of work, focusing on subjects that we care about.
