Colour By Number is a significant exhibition of new works by Dale Harding, curated by Brisbane based artist Tony Albert. The title refers both to the childhood art game and also to the government of Australia’s practice of attaching numbers to Aboriginal children according to a skin tone gradient. Harding’s practice looks at ideas of history and storytelling. He uses oral traditions from his family and translates these into thought provoking visual imagery.
For his first curatorial project, Albert will explore the fragile nature of Harding’s concepts using the intimacy of space and the idea of place.
