Complex Ecologies: Evergreens at Dusk

Deadline:

3 April
-
April 30
Belltower Façade, Judith Wright Arts Centre

Complex Ecologies: Evergreens at Dusk is a projected façade work by Tamika Grant-Iramu, illuminating the streets of Brisbane with a celebration of native flora. Featuring species such as the Golden Penda, Australian Lemon Myrtle, Native Frangipani and the Golden Wattle, the work reflects on the resilience and quiet presence of these evergreens within the urban landscape.

Observed at dusk, these plants reveal intricate details that shift and move with their surroundings. Tamika captures this dynamism through the process of linocut printmaking, using carving as an intuitive and responsive tool. The resulting forms are shaped by both intention and chance, mirroring the fluidity and unpredictability of the natural environment.

Translated onto Outer Space’s projection façade, these delicate details are amplified at scale, encouraging viewers to reconsider the overlooked textures and rhythms of Brisbane’s botanical life.

Artist:
Since graduating from the Queensland College of Art in 2017 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Tamika Grant-Iramu has developed a practice grounded in relief printmaking. Her work focuses on the often-unnoticed details of native flora, exploring the relationship between process, place, and environment. Extending beyond print, her practice spans textiles, interior design, murals and public art. Tamika is represented by Onespace.
