Coral Futures

Deadline:

1 August
-
October 17
UniSC Art Gallery

Coral Futures brings together poetic and speculative responses to coral by First Nations and contemporary Australian artists. The exhibition explores coral’s vital role in marine ecosystems, particularly the Great Barrier Reef, while considering its wider cultural, economic and environmental significance.

Responding to the increasing threats posed by climate change, including coral bleaching, rising ocean temperatures and extreme weather, the exhibition considers coral as a powerful indicator of the health of our planet. The artists offer diverse perspectives on the connections between coral, Country, coastal communities and the broader environmental crisis.

Artists: Erub Arts (Jimmy John Thaiday, Florence Gutchen, Nancy Naawi, Lavinia Ketchell), Helga Groves, Laresa Kosloff, Nicholas Mangan, Rachel O’Reilly and Marian Tubbs.
