Deadline: 12 March

Curator Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are now open for the Outdoor Gallery exhibition program running from 2026 to 2027.

Brisbane City Council is seeking experienced curators, producers or curatorial teams to deliver two exhibitions as part of its city-wide Outdoor Gallery program. EOIs can be submitted through the council website until 11:59pm Thursday 12 March 2026.

The Outdoor Gallery transforms Brisbane’s laneways, city streets and car parks into dynamic exhibition spaces. Using light boxes, banners, vitrines and evening projections, the program presents contemporary artworks in public space rather than traditional gallery environments.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2023, the award-winning initiative has supported the local creative sector through major temporary exhibitions across the city centre. The program has showcased hundreds of artists while highlighting Brisbane’s diversity, creativity, identity and community stories.

Successful curators will be responsible for delivering two major exhibitions, including aspects such as curation, artist management, exhibition and graphic design, installation, marketing and communications, work health and safety, and the delivery of public programs such as walking tours and engagement activities.

The two exhibitions include distinct themes:

Exhibition 1
December 2026 – April 2027
Theme: Art + Science

Exhibition 2
May 2027 – October 2027
Theme: Curator-led

The selection process will occur in two stages. EOIs will first be assessed against the program criteria, after which three shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a detailed proposal through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
