Cynthia Breusch survey exhibition and 2020 exhibition ‘Dreaming in Metaphors’
Lethbridge Gallery is delighted to present Cynthia Breusch’s first major survey exhibition to celebrate 40 years of exhibiting. Revisiting work and archival materials from 35 solo exhibitions nationally and internationally, the show features 24 artworks capturing pivotal moments from her career.
The survey shows alongside a collection of new works titled ‘Dreaming in Metaphors’, a tribute to the beauty of the natural world and the fragility of being. In a modern-romantic idiom, Cynthia’s new works explore hope, wonder, memory and reverie, exploring the mystery of meaning and purpose beyond the everyday. Through materials such as paint, collage, hand cut stencils, stamped words and found vintage book covers, Cynthia makes visual poems that express the idea that those things that are the most fragile are also the most precious.
