Pseudoplicity marks Dita Angeles’ debut exhibition, presenting a striking series of 12 anonymous portrait paintings. In these works, figures operate less as individual subjects and more as aesthetic motifs, contributing to a broader visual system of repetition and form.
Through the concept of “Pseudoplicity,” simulated reproductions are meticulously hand-painted within each work. These layered images mimic the logic of mechanical duplication while remaining materially singular, creating a tension between authenticity and illusion.
