Deadline:

Mitchell Fine Art

Dylan Sarra was born in the Bundaberg region and belongs to the Gooreng Goreng people. In his first exhibition Sarra invites viewers to explore the deep connection between fire and First Nations culture, as experienced by the artist.

Graduating from the Queensland College of Art in 2022 Dylan Sarra focuses on exploring identity and place and has used a range of disciplines such as print, digital, paintings and sculpture to make artwork that connects with people and starts conversations about Indigenous history.

Sarra’s exploration of fire underscores its role in shaping identity and community, celebrating the resilience and ingenuity of First Nations people.

In this exhibition viewers are encouraged to reflect on our relationship with fire, heritage and the natural world.

‘This exhibition reflects my personal journey and highlights fire as a powerful tool for transformation and renewal’ says Sarra. ‘Each work captures the knowledge of past generations and highlights the importance of preserving cultural traditions.’
