Artist Talk + Poetic Response – Between the River and the Cliff
October 12, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Come, gather with us at the river’s edge for a conversation and poetry reading inspired by, ‘Between the River and the Cliff’.
The evening will include:
– a discussion with the artist Susan Hawkins about the development of the work
– a poetic response to the work from local artist, writer and thinker, Kate Woodcroft
– stories from Derek Sandy about the ways local indigenous people have been living in the area for centuries
The work will be open before and after the event, so make sure you build in a little extra time to come explore.
‘Between the River and the Cliff’ is collection of interactive sculptural pieces made from decommissioned telecommunication equipment. Inspired by the transformation of Howard Smith Wharves from a place of industry and labour, to recreation and leisure, the pieces sit ready to translate your interactions into aural transmissions.
Produced by Metro Arts and people+artist+place, this activation is being delivered through Brisbane City Council’s Temporary Art Program 2019.
