SESSION 2: Fashion as Change Agent
3.30pm – 5pm | $25 ($18 conc.)
For any conscious fashion consumer, this session will ask the big questions … How is fashion connected to the world and accountable for its impact? What are the opportunities for changing consumer and producer behaviours? How does fashion revitalise communities? Join academic and researcher on ethical fashion Lauren Soloman as she talks to founder of Outland Denim James Bartle, Jackie Ruddock CEO of The Social Outfit and Shannon Brett creator of pioneering label LORE.
James will share how his denim brand is providing ethical employment and training to women rescued from human trafficking and exploitation in Cambodia.
Shannon will share her experience and knowledge as a designer who engages in respectful collaborative design processes and a nuanced understanding of intellectual property.
Jackie will explore how an ethical trading social enterprise can provide employment and training in the fashion industry to people from refugee and new migrant communities.
