The Third Quarter is proud to launch ‘Tendrils, Strings’ by Brisbane Emerging Artist Holly Anderson.
In ‘Tendrils, Strings’ Anderson explores the strangeness of tendrils, floaters, and strings as an emergent and recurrent motif across her recent work. The tendril form recalls something earthy or bodily – a floater seen in one’s vision presents a disconcerting reminder of a strange and abject fragility of the body.
Anderson’s current interest in ecological anxiety and its sensory effects in the body underpin these arresting visual motifs. Painting is used here as a means for analysis of personally felt anxieties, exploring their wiggling edges and tender manifolds with a neurotic tactile attention.
Join us for the Exhibition Opening on Friday Feb 1, coinciding with the launch of Ann McLean‘s ‘Antidote’ in the Ochre Gallery.
Exhibition Opening: 6pm – 9pm
Showing in the Cobalt Gallery until Feb 14
