In The Thick Of It – TQ 1st Birthday

In October 2018, The Third Quarter opened its doors as a new Brisbane gallery with an exciting program and even bigger dreams. Aimed at bringing together the work of artists from the margins alongside emerging and established artists, TQ has sought to re-evaluate what a contemporary gallery could be. Operating within a hybrid realm of social enterprise, commercial space and event facilitation, The Third Quarter has passionately crafted a program which is accessible to artists and the broader Brisbane community.

Launching the space in 2018 with an exhibition titled, ‘On the brink’, The Third Quarter’s 1st birthday show is an homage to the gallery’s inaugural year, with the exhibition ‘In the thick of it’. While ‘On the brink’ excitedly shared the joy and nervous anticipation of new beginnings, ‘In the thick of it’ recognises the ongoing hustle, struggles and triumphs of a space that’s always working to do better and be better.
