Short films by Sam Dixon
January 24, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
To kick-off our screening series for the new year, PIG CINÉ Film Society are excited to debut two films by local writer and director Sam Dixon: No Friend in the Forest (2018) and Dancing Goat (2016).
For the first time ever, we will screen a special director’s cut of No Friend in the Forest. A shorter version of this sinister horror premiered at last year’s Screamfest in LA. Sam’s well-regarded 2016 film, Dancing Goat will follow. It was shot in the Victorian Alpine region, entirely on 16mm film, and tells the haunting story of a man who stumbles across a hard bargain in a desolate and otherworldly outback. Both films linger in the dark recesses of the mind, dredging up unimaginable horrors that lurk in an eerie Australian landscape.
After finishing a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Film and TV at QUT, Sam went on to complete his Masters in Screenwriting at the Victorian College of the Arts. His short films have played at numerous film festivals around Australia and the world. His first feature length film is currently in the works.
Films contain coarse language and horror themes.
Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start at the Lumen Room, Metro Arts. Please RSVP through Eventbrite to reserve your seat.
