Since immigrating to Australia from the Philippines in 2006, Brisbane based husband-and-wife team Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan have participated in numerous high profile art biennales and events. Their elaborate and intricately planned installations have captured the imagination of audiences from diverse backgrounds. Each of their installations is an ongoing exploration of ideas around migration, family, belonging and dislocation, with each subsequent artwork building upon the previous.

Fragments: another country is the first major survey of the Aquilizans’ work. It will restage many of the large-scale installations and provide an unprecedented opportunity to view the work as a comprehensive series, thus providing a unique insight into the creative processes of this internationally acclaimed art duo.
