Free Range returns to the IMA with its Thursday night sound club, delivering an evening of experimental and improvised performance. Free Range 5 brings together three distinct acts working across sound, sculpture, and live improvisation.
Green Terry Manning—comprised of Tim Green, Amanda Terry, and Ross Manning—present a tactile, close-mic’d exploration of percussion, violin, and sound sculpture. Their performance leans into the subtle sonic textures of everyday materials, creating an immersive, kinetic listening experience.
A long-standing figure in Brisbane’s music and experimental scene, Ian Wadley draws from decades of practice across influential local bands. His string-based compositions unfold as expansive, meandering soundscapes, inviting audiences into a drifting, introspective sonic environment.
Skylar Sansome returns following a memorable IMA performance in 2025. Performing solo, Sansome works with sculptural percussion and found objects, balancing near-silence with resonant tones to create a deeply atmospheric and physical experience of sound.
Doors open at 6pm, with performances running through the evening.
