Izabela Pluta

Izabela Pluta’s work explores the psychological connection (or disconnection) between places. Examining the semi-permanent, fly-in-fly out lifestyles of regions such as the Pilbara, Gestures of the Landscape delves into the impermanence and transience of Western Australia’s mining towns. Pluta considers the phenomenon of a place undergoing transition: sites that become dysfunctional through economic change. Depicting a build environment that can be unhinged, collapsed and folded, then moved to another place in which it can endure it’s purpose all over again. Temporality is ever-present.
