The GhostNets Australia project started in 2004 and involves Indigenous Rangers from over 22 communities from coastal northern Australia. The collected fishing nets are distributed to various art centres and community groups to create artworks and practical objects. The work is but a small part of the larger “Caring for Country” activities carried out everyday across the whole of northern Australia. This show features works from a number of Queensland communities, including: Aurukun, Darnley Island, Hammond Island, Moa Island (St Paul’s) & Mapoon.
