Mitchell Fine Art

An exhibition of Aboriginal paintings that draw inspiration from seasonal changes and showcase artworks highlighting luminosity and vibrancy is showing at Mitchell Fine Art in Fortitude Valley from September 14th.

Bold splashes of vibrant colour feature strongly in this collection of artworks with the overriding theme emphasizing the glowing quality and abundance of colour. These works represent the convergence between traditional iconography and modern aesthetics and palettes.

The works on display are a vivid illustration of what occurred when Aboriginal artists gained access to a broader palette and medium outside their traditional naturally occurring pigments.

Many of the artists in the exhibition grew up pre contact or had very limited contact in their formative years. The designs whilst maintaining their cultural integrity have grown beyond the traditional palette and composition.

The exhibition is showing from 14th September to 7th October 2023. There will be no opening events for this exhibition.

Art enthusiasts can also follow/like the gallery on Facebook and Instagram or sign up to the mailing list to receive updates on exhibitions and events.
