GOMA Talks: Can Art Save Us?

Deadline:

September 22
Gallery of Modern Art

GOMA Talks returns during ‘Chiharu Shiota: The Soul Trembles’, to examine the powerful role arts and culture plays in our wellbeing.

From a never-ending global pandemic, to natural disasters and war, have these ‘unprecedented times’ left you feeling flat? In a world where nothing seems certain, art continues to provide joy and solace.

Many of us have turned to arts and culture for comfort and distraction in the last few hellish years, from binge watching TV to listening to music. So, this begs the questions: Can art save us? Does art heal us? And what does this tell us about art and cultures place in society?

Guests include:

  • Kelly Vincent, Writer, Creative Director and advocate
  • Jill Bennett, Scientia Professor, Researcher and Director of The Big Anxiety Festival
  • Sahara Herald, Tour Director, Frontier Touring
  • Wesley Enoch, Playwright & Artistic Director
  • Hosted by Paul Barclay, Radio National’s Big Ideas

GOMA Talks sessions are free and no bookings are required to attend. Seating is limited, please arrive early to secure your seat.

Can’t make it in person? The session will be live streamed to QAGOMA’s YouTube. Live stream will feature automatically generated subtitles.
