Hill Painting Prize

Deadline: May 24

Artists are invited to enter the inaugural Hill Painting Prize, a new national award celebrating landscape painting within the unique context of the Blue Mountains.

Open to Australian residents, the prize calls for works depicting urban, man-made, and natural landscapes of the Blue Mountains region. Artists are encouraged to respond to the environment through contemporary painting practices, exploring the intersection of place, perception, and representation.

The exhibition of finalists will be held at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in August and September 2026, offering selected artists the opportunity to present their work within a prominent regional gallery setting.

The prize includes three awards—People’s Choice, Artist’s Choice, and an overall winner—with a total prize pool of $12,000. The overall winner will be announced at the exhibition opening on 7 August 2026.

To apply, artists must submit a completed entry form, CV, and artwork image, along with the submission fee.
