Iain Turnbull: Lines of Intersection

Deadline:

9 April
-
April 25
Parker Contemporary

Lines of Intersection brings together works by the late Iain Turnbull (1965–2009), presented in collaboration with Cobalt Editions and the Turnbull Family.

Rather than a retrospective, the exhibition traces a lineage of ideas grounded in process, material intelligence, and the quiet rigour of working through the printed line. Turnbull’s practice continues to shape contemporary printmaking, not only through his own works but through the generations of artists influenced by his teaching and legacy.

A graduate of the Queensland College of Art, Turnbull completed his First Class Honours in Printmaking in 2005. Following his passing in 2009, the Turnbull Award was established by his family and former partner Jennifer Lowrey to support emerging printmakers. The award continues to foster material-led, studio-based practice among students at QCAD.

Included in the exhibition is recognition of Turnbull Fellows from 2011–2025, reflecting the ongoing impact of his contribution to the field.

Proceeds from works in the exhibition will contribute to the continuation of the Turnbull Award.
