In this talk, Dr Andrea Bubenik, Senior Lecturer in Art History, University of Queensland will explore how Dürer gave visual expression to fears of plague and death in his 1498 Apocalypse series, and consider why his response matters during our present-day global pandemic.
Select works from the Apocalypse series are currently on display at QAG, in the ‘Two Sisters, A Singular Vision’ exhibition and the International Art Collection.
