During 10-13 July, seventeen musicians from Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane will be performing small ensemble repertoire from Bach to Xenakis to jazz for The Long Weekenderat FireWorks Gallery in Newstead.
Alongside a backdrop of striking artworks from Warlukurlangu Artists, Yuendumu, NT there will be also be an installation of six contemporary paintings by Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, Yvonne Mills-Stanley and Matthew Johnson titled INTERMISSION.
Featuring exclusively at Concert No. 3 on Saturday 12 July is a new jazz work – premiering on jazz vocals, sax and piano by Kristin Berardi, Rafael Karlen and Sean Foran. The inspiration for this music commission has been drawn from senior Pintubi artist Tjampitjinpa’s artwork Bushfire break.
Prior to Concert No.3 there will be a meet&mingle in the gallery on Saturday 12 July from 4-5 pm.
The Long Weekender is presented by DeClassified Music. A magnificent Steinway concert grand piano from Theme & Variations Piano Services Queensland will grace the warehouse gallery space.
Clovely Estate will be providing wine alongside espresso martinis from Blue Sky Coffee at Concert No. 3.
