Students learn bone structure and relationships of key features of a human head. Skull anatomy, proportion of key features of the head, facial expression, racial variation in bone structure and facial features, gender variants, details of sculpting features in clay similar to carving, details of hair sculpting. A detailed study of the skull precedes working with a model.

PROFILE OF PRESENTER: Susan Kaden MA, Master of Contemporary Art, BA Art and Design, and Dip Ed Secondary Art. Susan has completed a number of large public commissions in bronze and has been studying Figurative Sculpture in Italy, USA and France over the past few years with master sculptors.
