Jannah Quill: NO INPUT

27th April - 14th May

FAKE estate

NO INPUT considers moments of stasis and futile circulation in information transfer. What stasis looks like and the apparent failure of the (in)action, but then also the constant energetic transduction in both stasis and movement. The decipherable language of information “failure” exists as colour, object, machine. Machines looping back on themselves, projecting feeds of inner circuitry rather than linear information of human communication. Colour shape symbols of the language of digital interfaces, as art, as a meme. Objects as audible things, unveiling activity in inactivity. It looks at information as something that is fed and received, but also physical and of itself. Jannah Quill’s first solo exhibition combines practices in sound and visual art to re-work a language of failure specific to digital interfaces and technologies, to assert some sort of non failure (but rather an electrical reality).

Jannah Quill is a Sydney-based artist working in electronic installation and performance. Her work currently deals with exploring and exposing hidden energies and considers the role of electricity in digital construction, and its potential as a performance and art making tool. Jannah’s performances and work have been exhibited as part of Underbelly Arts at Cockatoo island, Liquid Architecture sound festival in Melbourne, and at the Museum of Contemporary Art as part of the “Energies: Haines and Hinterding” public program, among others.
