Jodie Wells : The Horse

Deadline:

WHEN : Opening 1st Dec
WHERE : Brett Lethbridge Gallery

Tasmanian born, but now based on the Gold Coast, I began practicing art in 1997 and have exhibited extensively around Australia since 2007.

My paintings are mostly done impasto style thick, lustrous, and wonderfully messy. I spread the oil paint thickly onto the canvas with a palette knife, which gives the paintings a 3D quality, evoking desires to touch and visually scrutinise. On close inspection my paintings appear abstract, heavily textured, containing many different colours, but when viewed from a distance, the human eye naturally
blends those colours and forms, and a recognisable image is seen.
